5 Solutions to Prevent Baldness

Are you starting to lose your hair and are afraid of ending up with a completely bald head soon? Simple gestures, cosmetic medicine, and tattooing can help you take the root problem.

Every morning, on the pillow, in the shower or while styling, you make the same observation: you lose your hair. And maybe soon by handles. Before joining the very welcoming club of men hiding their monk’s tonsure behind a horrible wick that they desperately tackle on the top of their heads, you can decide to act now.

“It is normal to lose an average of 50 to 100 hairs per day,” says Hélène Krause, doctor, and researcher for Phytosolba laboratories. But when this loss worsens, we move towards baldness. This affects one in two men. Most of the time it is hereditary. The first signs of this phenomenon can appear from the twenties, located on the top of the head, the forehead, the temples, and the temporal gulfs.

In most cases, this hair loss is linked to male hormones (androgenetic alopecia). Other factors can cause a significant fall such as intense stress, trauma, medication, or skin disease. But also chronic inflammation around the bulb. “Dandruff causes irritation of the scalp that affects the health of your hair,” says Dr. Krause.

But faced with androgenetic alopecia, which is the most frequent, we can act to slow down this process, before it is too late. In fact, caused by an excess of male hormones (also called androgens), this process begins at puberty. “We assess the severity of alopecia according to the Hamilton classification which ranges from 1 to 7,” explains Dr. Krause. “From stages 1 to 3, the hair begins to fall on the forehead until the top of the skull appears at the level of the vertex”. Beyond stage 4, it becomes difficult to act against baldness. Since it is still impossible to resuscitate the hair follicle at the end of the 25 hair reproduction cycles, here are 5 solutions to protect yourself against baldness.

1. Simple everyday gestures

Since prevention is better than cure, you can now take simple steps to keep your hair healthy and strong for longer. For starters, avoid products that are too aggressive for the hair, such as the abuse of dry shampoo, dyes, or gels. Opt for a mild shampoo with a neutral pH. You can even precede its application with a gentle massage of the scalp from the nape of the neck to the top of the skull. The blood circulation thus stimulated will make the scalp more receptive to care.

“You should avoid rinsing your hair with too hot water which attacks the scalp and makes it quicker to grease. In the sun, be sure to use sun protection or a hat to protect the scalp, ”adds Dr. Krause. A varied and balanced diet can meet the needs of hair in iron, copper, zinc, silicon and group B vitamins and essential fatty acids.
